Irene KingIrene King - Wild Eyed Press Australian Artist

Irene King spent a happy childhood living in the South-West of Western Australia on a farm surrounded by animals and nature. She was encouraged by her mother at a very early age to pursue her love of drawing.

In 1969 Irene graduated from Graylands Teachers College. After travelling through Europe for two years, she continued teaching. She transferred to Albany in 1979 where she married and had two children. Irene was now teaching art at a local primary school and her students had numerous successes including the winner of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Poster.

Irene attended TAFE to pursue her Certificate in Art and Design. She was invited to exhibit her work in several competitions and participated in many exhibitions in Albany, Bunbury and Fremantle.

Irene now lives in Fremantle and paints in oils in her studio. She continues to focus on capturing the innocent sensuality of the female form. Her dreamlike figures are elegant and delicate and mirror the fragility of the Australian wildlife featured in her paintings.
